“In Her Hands:  Craftswomen Changing The World”

September 11 – October 17 2008

Opening reception Thursday, September 11, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

In countries around the world women feed and educate their families with the income they generate from selling their creative crafts.  Paola Gianturco and Toby Tuttle traveled the globe interviewing and photographing these women.  Gianturco’s and Tuttle’s book, “In Her Hand” (powerHouse Books) relates the inspiring enlightening stories of women and their micro enterprises.  Visitors will enjoy photographs from “In Her Hands” as well as women’s crafts from Bolivia, Guatemala, Peru, Panama, Poland, Czech Republic, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Turkey, INdonesia, Thailand, and India.

 

“Moving Pictures:  New Intaglio Prints by Treelee Macann”

October 23 – November 20, 2008  

Opening reception Thursday, October 23, 2008  4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

CCu Visual Arts Professor Treelee Macann exhibits new work created during her scholarly re-assignment during Fall 2007.  By rearranging imagery from black and white film stills and old family photographs from the same period, the artist creates new narratives.  The exhibition freatures  MacAnn’s recent exploration of a new non toxic intaglio type printmaking method.
